Not Carrying Out the Preparatory Tasks
Start with the preparatory work. Clean the surface to be used for tiling by removing dirt and dust, and take steps to make the surface smooth and level. Make sure you have enough non-slip tiles, and select an adhesive that is water-resistant.
Using Inappropriate Tools
Its imperative to use the right tools for the right task while tiling. This includes:
- Bubble levels or battens to lay out the tiles in a straight line
- T-spacers for accurate spacing between the tile
- Tile cutter to carefully cut the tiles
- Grout spreader to spread and press the grout
Cutting the Tiles Incorrectly
C arefully and neatly cut the tiles at the marked point to avoid chipping and breaking of the tiles. This will prevent escalation of the project cost and save time.
Not Laying Out the Tiles Properly
Carry out a dry run of the tile laying process without using adhesives. This will help in getting a symmetrical lay out, in straight lines according to the design chosen. Take out the time to do this before the actual lay out to achieve a quality finish.
