Restyling Bathroom on a Shoestring Budget

Restyle without replacing your tile

You don't have to spend a fortune on remodeling to breathe new life into one of the most frequently visited rooms in the house. There's a new product on the market that makes brightening up your bathroom as easy as one, two, three.

"A lot of people have plain bathrooms that aren't too attractive, but that problem is easy to fix with our Stick'n Stile Design Appliqués," said Todd Imholte, president of Environmental Graphics, a Hopkins, Minn., company that specializes in decorative products for the home.

Linda Steen of Kissimmee, Fla., read about the appliqués in her local newspaper and says she had to have them. "I drove all the way to Daytona Beach (52 miles one way) to get to the only store around that has them," said Steen. She decorated her bathroom with Water World design appliqués, featuring tropical fish. "When I moved into my house, the bathroom was already tiled. I wanted a change but didn't want to tear it apart, so these were just perfect. I get lots of comments from guests - all positive!"

"What makes our product unique is that it's a raised or three-dimensional appliqué that has the look and feel of ceramic, and it takes just seconds to apply," said Imholte. "Once you have designed your layout and cleaned the surface, all you have to do is peel off the liner and stick the appliqué on the surface."

"It was so easy to do," said Steen. Removal is easy, too. The adhesive is strong enough to stand up to the heat and humidity in a bathroom, but easily gives way when heat from a hair dryer is applied directly.

Stick'n Stile appliqués come in six designs. In addition to Water World, there are also Fiji Palms; Orchid Narcissus; Botanica, which features plants; Summertime, which features dragonflies; and Geo Squares, which features geometric squares. Other designs are in the development stage.
