Beer Fridge: Converting an Old Fridge Into a Kegerator

by DoItYourself Staff

If you have an old fridge that still works you could convert it into a beer fridge or kegerator so you could draw your own beer from the keg.

Conversion Kits

Although you could probably buy all the parts necessary for the conversion separately it is much more convenient to buy a conversion kit – especially as the kit contains detailed step by step instructions.

Before buying the kit it would be a good idea to check that a keg will fit in to the old fridge.

Installation

With the detailed instructions there is no difficulty in building your kegerator. The hardest part, however, is drilling a hole in the fridge side to fit the tap through.

Once you have the kegerator built all you need to do is get the CO2 bottle filled, buy a keg of your favorite beer, connect the keg and wait a couple of hours to be drawing off your first cold beer. While you are waiting you can personalize your kegerator using magnetic fridge letters and fridge magnets.
