Built Dishwasher

A built dishwasher is a robot that cleans and rinses dirty dishes and allows extra floor space by being installed under a counter. Built in dishwashers are located near a sink so they can be hooked up to its hot water line and drain line, and they require a grounded electrical outlet.

How a built dishwasher works

  • The tasks that a built dishwasher completes are:
  • Filling itself with water;
  • Heating the water;
  • Opening the detergent dispenser;
  • Distributing the water through jets;
  • Draining the dirty water;
  • Rinsing its contents;
  • Draining the water again;
  • Heating air to dry its contents.

These fully integrated dishwashers perform self-monitoring through sensors that detect water/air temperature and water levels. Some built dishwashers can sense the removal of dirt from their contents.

Maintaining a built dishwasher

A common problem presented by a built dishwasher is the failure to clean dishes thoroughly - possibly a water pressure problem that requires a new water intake valve suitable for fully integrated dishwashers. Another typical complication with built dishwashers is mineral build-up in a home with hard water, which can clog the water jets of built in dishwashers. The clog can be cleared with a wire or pin, followed by running an empty built dishwasher with vinegar in the detergent dispenser.
