Can drop ceiling tiles support recessed lighting?

One of the more decorative looks for drop ceiling tiles is to use recessed lighting fixtures. But there can be concerns about whether or not the tiles can support the weight of the recessed lighting fixtures. Drop ceilings are not designed to hold a significant amount of weight. As the home settles or shifts, the drop ceiling will move along with the home. In order to install recessed lighting in a drop ceiling you need to install additional wire supports to the ceiling tiles that will hold the lighting. One wire support in each of the four corners of the ceiling tile should be more than enough support for any recessed lighting fixture.
