Can I add a top coat to faux stucco?

by DoItYourself Staff

A top coat to faux stucco is generally a covering of protective sealant on the wall surface. The faux stucco finish usually involves adding sand to paint to create a decorative and grainy look. Once you have selected and prepared a wall for the faux finish, mix the paint and sand together to create a compound mixture. Apply the mixture directly on the walls. Spread thinly, and finish off the texture using special trowels, rollers or even tissue paper. When done, give it about a day’s time to completely dry, and finish off with a coat of sealant.
