Can I install replacement basement windows into concrete?

by DoItYourself Staff

Replacement basement windows can be put in concrete, but before a new window is installed, the old basement window needs to be removed. The old window must be removed along with the cement holding it, to allow for a leveled surface. Thereafter, pressure treated wood may be installed around the opening, using special screws. Then you need to replace the cement around the window, as it is not easy to get the wooden frame to be in line with the concrete. This cement also helps in keeping out water that may have gotten into the window. With this, you are now able to install the replacement basement window with the right measurements.
