Can I remove vinyl flooring from wood?

by DoItYourself Staff

If you want to remove vinyl flooring from wood, then there are very many ways of doing it. You may use a heat gun, as the heat produced melts the adhesive holding the flooring for easy removal. You may also use dry ice to remove vinyl flooring. Moisten the vinyl with water from a spray bottle. Then, in increments, put the ice on the floor so that the vinyl can start popping up. However, extra care must be taken here, as water may damage the wood. Therefore, towels or rugs are needed as you work. You can also use a power steamer, as the steam it produces melts the adhesive.
