Can I touch up and re-stain wood baseboards?

by DoItYourself Staff

Wood baseboards have long been the standard for homes. They can come prefinished or unfinished for you to paint or finish in a stain of your choice. The natural durability of wood makes it last for years. If it becomes scratched or blemished, you can touch it up with a bit of leftover stain or with a touch up stick available at most paint stores. Baseboards can also be restained if you wish to darken them or give them a new look. You can now buy latex stains that you can apply over an existing stain for a new finish.
