by DoItYourself Staff

Many candle making recipes are available. Candles have been adorning and beautifying many special moments in the life of a person since time immemorial. Imagine giving a special signature touch to those pretty little flames with your own hands. It’s a chance few would like to miss and all would like to have. Personalized touch to anything conveys a lot of warmth and emotion which makes it precious for the recipient.

Unfortunately a lot of people think that candle making involves a very tiresome and hazardous process which is not only time consuming and expensive, and also not safe to be conducted at home. Fortunately candle making is not such a tiresome process, and simple candles can be made by the help of simple steps which can create candles which are beautiful and appealing to the eye. Here we shall discuss some simple candle making recipes that you can carry out in your home by using very simple tools and equipment.

Candle Making Recipes for a Balloon Candle

A balloon candle looks like a balloon. For making a balloon candle you need a balloon, some wax and a wax melting container, colors according to your choice and a wick.

In order to make a balloon candle, melt the wax in a boiler, dip the water filled balloon into the tub of hot wax and remove it quickly. Allow the wax to harden and then repeat the process a few times, until the exterior covering of the balloon is 1 cm thick. Then prick the balloon and remove it from the wax covering, and add wax continuously until the interior is completely filed. Place the wick in the middle and allow it to cool. Decorate it with your choice of colors and your balloon candle is ready.

Candle Making Recipes for a Beeswax Candle

In order to make a beeswax candle you need a sheet of beeswax, a cotton wick and a pair of scissors. Beeswax comes in a sheet like paper. Place the cotton wick at the center and roll it carefully. Since beeswax is very soft, the heat of the hand will be sufficient to fix the wick in its place. After the rolling is complete, the base of the candle can be sewed using the heat from the hand. The beeswax candle is then ready for use in three simple steps.

Candle Making Recipes for a Gel Candle

Gel candles are really very unique and look great on any occasion. In order to make a gel candle, you will need zinc wicks, gel, dye and essential oils. Unlike other candles, in a gel candle the wick should be first placed in the container and fixed using glue. The gel should be sliced into several pieces and melted at a perfect temperature of 200 degrees F. The heated gel should then be poured into the container. If you want to add fragrance, use essential oils; about 1/3 of a tablespoon and dye as per your wish. When the entire container is filled with the liquid glue, hold the wick in its position with the help of a pencil and allow the gel to cool. A beautiful gel candle is ready for use.

By using some very simple and convenient measures you can make other innovative kinds of candles like paper candles and crayon candles, each of which are very unique and special in its appeal. However always remember to follow safety instructions and take precautionary measures before venturing into candle making.
