Canning Tomatoes

Canning tomatoes, or any type of food, is an efficient way of storing freshness and taste. It is also a very simple process. If you are able to boil water and tell time, canning tomatoes will be no problem for you.

Canning tomatoes is a convenient process to know how to do, especially if you happen to buy or grow more than you’re able to use. You will have fresh canned foods for home cooked holiday meals that everyone will love.

Steps to Canning Tomatoes
Step 1: pick out the fresh tomatoes and have them ready
Step 2: make sure you have several sterilized glass jars (quart or pint will do)
Step 3: Get a pot of boiling water in order to peel the tomatoes (this step is optional).
Step 4: Fill the clean sterilized jars with the tomatoes. Make sure there are no air pockets and remember to pack the jars tight.
Step 5: Put the warm, dried lids on the jars, and tighten up the rims.
Step 6: Place jars in a pot of boiling water for about 90 minutes, and remove them once the process is done.

This simple process of canning tomatoes will keep your tomatoes fresh for years, and in the end it saves you a pretty penny!
