Carpet and Installation: What You Need

When it comes to carpet and installation, it is necessary to make sure you have the right tools. For general purposes, you will need the tools listed below.
Specialty Carpet and Installation Tools

If you do not want to shell out the money for these tools, they can be rented from any home improvement store inexpensively.

    * Knee Kicker: This is a metal tool that is 18 inches in length. It is used to hold the carpet in place with its teeth, while a person drives their knee into the other padded side in order to stretch it over the tack strip.
    * Power Stretcher: This should be used in place of a knee kicker if the room is larger than 10 by 10.
    * Seam Tape: This seals up seams tightly so they will not be noticeable.
    * Seam Iron: This iron is used to activate the tapes adhesive.
    * Tack Cutter: This tool is simply a blade that is strong enough to go through a tack strip and cut diagonally or straight.
    * Seam Cutter: This provides a clean cut from the back of the carpet.

Household Carpet and Installation Tools

These are just basic tools that are commonly found inside the home.

    * Utility Knife
    * Hammer
    * Stapler
    * Measuring Tape

Always remember that having all the right materials for carpet and installation projects makes the task easier. Safety equipment such as glasses, gloves, and knee pads are also advised.
