Chenille Braided Rug Cleaning Tips

With proper care and maintenance, your chenille braided rugs will last a lifetime. You can expect these rugs to have years of beauty by using the cleaning tips below.

Cleaning Techniques

Chenille braided rugs should be regularly swept or vacuumed. Do not beat the rugs to get off excess dirt. This can cause the fibers to stretch, or even break. If a spill occurs, be sure to clean it up immediately. If you wait for it to dry, the stain may become permanent.

Other Useful Tips

Here are some other tips that will help you keep them looking good:

  • If your rug somehow gets a grease spot on it, use a dry cleaning solvent to remove it. You can find the solvent at your local hardware store. Test a small area first to check the colorfastness of the material.
  • You can also use an ammonia/water solution on heavily soiled rugs. Also, make sure that you test a small area to make sure the color iwill not fade.
  • When testing the rug, if the color does not come out, then proceed to gently clean the rug one braid at a time to get it nice and clean.
