Choosing the Right Garage Floor Cleaner

The first step in purchasing a garage floor cleaner is to identify the type of floor you have. A vinyl garage floor generally requires only general household cleaner, with perhaps a bit of degreaser added. Concrete floors are porous and pull in stains quickly, which are sometimes difficult to release.

First try using a pressure washer with general household cleaner. If this does not work, the stain is probably oil or grease based. In this case, the best solution is to buy commercially made garage floor cleaners, which are specially designed to remove oil stains from concrete.

You may choose to make your own industrial strength cleaner. This is done by combining a half gallon of cool water, a cup of grease-cutting household cleaner and a cup of ammonia. Be sure to protect your hands while mixing. In addition, do not use ammonia in a poorly ventilated area.

Cleaning your garage floor may not be a fun task, but it can be made easier with the appropriate cleaner.
