Clean with Green Bathroom Products

Bathroom products have a whole new look in today’s environmentally-conscious world. Sure, you can still buy the ones loaded with chemicals that can cause health problems, but why would you when you can clean with safe products that benefit you and the environment – and clean your bathroom just as well as the more toxic ones. Here are some things to be on the lookout for in your search for clean, green types of bathroom products.

    * Petroleum-free, biodegradable – Since the products go down the drain or sink, you want to ensure they won’t harm the environment.

    * Cleansers with no phosphates or bleach – Phosphates can cause algae to form and bleach is a lung irritant.

    * Ingredients list – Thoroughly read the entire list of ingredients on every aerosol spray, can, jar, box or bottle of cleanser. Carry a list of harmful ingredients with you and steer clear of bathroom products that contain them.

    * Check manufacturer’s warnings – If there are any hazards associated with use, the manufacturer is obligated to list warnings clearly on the product packaging. Read it carefully. If there are warnings, it’s not a green product.

    * Green products to consider – Suggestions include: 20 Mule Team Borax, Bon Ami, Seventh Generation, Method Tub + Tile, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Surface Scrub, Ecover and Biokleen Soyblends Kitchen & Bath Soy Cream Cleaner.
