Clean Your Floor Fans in Three Easy Steps

Cleaning your floor fan, whether oscillating or stationary, is important and easy. Dirty blades inhibit the fan from working properly and can even cause the fan to completely stop functioning. In order to properly and thoroughly clean your floor fan for optimal and long-lasting function, gather the necessary materials and follow the easy steps below.

 Tools and Materials Needed

  • Wash cloths;
  • Dish washing liquid;
  • Warm water;
  • A bucket, and;
  • Paint brush or tooth brush.

Step 1- Unplug and Dismantle the Fan

First, turn the fan off and unplug it from the wall. Second, remove the front grill by unscrewing or un-clipping it. Be sure to consult your owner's manual for the correct procedure in how to take off the front grill. Then, take the blade off and remove the back grill.

Step 2- Cleaning Your Fan

Dip one of your wash cloths in the bucket of warm water mixed with dish washing liquid and wipe down blades and grills. Then, remove any excess liquid with you other wash cloth, which should be dry. Be sure to clean the motor by brushing with a dry paint brush and not cleaning it with water.

Step 3- Allow to Dry Before Reassembly

Allow the grills and blades to completely dry before you reassemble the fan.
