Cleaning a Stainless Steel Water Distiller

by DoItYourself Staff

Cleaning a stainless steel water distiller at least about three times a year is recommended by the experts. Mold growth is a big problem with water distillers. If not cleaned properly, it can affect the serviceability of the distillers to a great extent. Thorough cleaning is required to maintain the quality of distilled water and enhance the durability of the distiller. You will need mild acidic  cleansing agent to do it.

Step 1- Turn off the Power

Turn off the power. Remove the lid from the boiling chamber.

Step 2- Add Cleansing Agent

Mild acidic cleansing agents like sulfamic acid and vinegar are most commonly used to clean steel water distillers. Add about 3 tablespoons of the cleansing agent to the boiling chamber and mix thoroughly.

Step3 – Empty the Chamber

Allow about 10 hours for the cleansing agent to clean the chamber. After that, drain out the cleansing agent solution from the chamber.

Step4 – Rinse and Wipe the Chamber

Now, you need to remove the residue of the cleansing agent solution from the boiling chamber. Rinse the chamber thoroughly with pure clean water. Wipe its inside with a clean cloth.
