Cleaning Brass Plumbing Fixtures

by DoItYourself Staff

Brass plumbing fixtures can be cleaned with many products that you already have in your home. You do not have to spend money on expensive cleaning solutions.

Lemon and Salt

This is one of the most natural ways there is to clean brass plumbing fixtures. First, you must cut a lemon in half and remove all of the seeds from it. Then sprinkle a generous portion of salt onto the lemon. Holding the lemon by the rind gently rub it over the brass fixture. Once you are finished, buff the brass with a dry cloth that is lint free.

Lemon and Baking Soda

Cleaning brass plumbing fixtures can also be accomplished with a lemon and baking soda. Do the same as described above but substitute the salt with baking soda. After you have rubbed the brass fixture to a shine, rinse it carefully with warm water. Then you can finish wiping the brass with a dry lint free cloth.

Ketchup and Worcestershire Sauce

It may sound strange but it works! Your brass plumbing fixtures will shine like they have never shined before after you apply either ketchup or Worcestershire sauce to them. To clean with either condiment use a clean, damp cloth and rub the food item into the brass. Once you have rubbed enough then wipe it clean and thrill at the shine!
