Cleaning Persian Rug Fringe

Cleaning a Persian rug is easily accomplished by vacuuming, but what about the fringe? By following these steps you will have clean fringe in no time.

Protect Your Floor

Before cleaning your Persian rug, place a garbage bag with a towel over it underneath the fringe. This will keep the dirt off of the floor beneath, not only protecting it, but making clean up easier.

Comb Fringe

Gently comb or brush the fringe to dislodge any dirt or debris.

Clean Fringe

Cleaning solution:

  • I ounce ammonia (non-sudsing)
  • 8 ounces warm water

Taking a clean, white sponge or cloth, daub it in the cleaning solution and then gently wipe over the fringe.

Rinsing Fringe

     Rinsing solution:

  • 1 ounce vinegar
  • 8 ounces warm water

Taking another clean, white cloth or sponge, rinse out fringe.

Still Dirty?

If the fringe is still dirty, repeat the last two steps to get it clean.
