• Broom
• Vacuum cleaner
• Powerful flashlight’

Process for Cleaning the Security Chimneys

The easiest way to clean security chimneys is from the top down using this process.

• Start by sealing off the fireplace or stove to stop soot from entering the house. The fireplace cover works great for this.
• Attach as many rods as you need to so it can reach the bottom of the chimney.
• Work the brush up and down several times until the chimney is clean.
• Check the security chimneys by using a powerful flashlight to look into it.
• Vacuum or sweep the residue up. Make sure to check behind the damper, smoke shelf area, or any other elbows and T connections as well.
• If you have any anti-creo-soot or any other kind of creosote remover you may want to apply it to the security chimneys to help reduce the buildup of the deposits.
