If you’ve been looking for that perfect after dinner drink, you may just want to try Coco-Rhum Coffee. Traditionally the drink has been common, after dinner, throughout the holidays. If you’re a coffee lover, however, it really does make the perfect year-round drink. With that said, let’s look at making your own coco-rhum coffee.

The process itself isn’t difficult. In fact, in just a few minutes you can be enjoying a scrumptious treat. All it takes is the right ingredients, and the right recipe (which we are about to give you).

What You’ll Need

Before we start, you’ll need to ensure you have the right tools on hand. For this one you’re going to need an espresso machine. You don’t necessarily have to study up on how to choose the best espresso machine. A simple stove top espresso maker or even the latest, super auto espresso machine, will work.

You will also need a blender or a hand mixer, to whip the cream. The recipe we have is for two servings, so you will need two saucers and two cups. A taller cup is best in this case, as it will accommodate the drink and allow for the whipped cream topping.

Coco-Rhum Ingredients (2 Servings)

When collecting the ingredients, to make your next coffee treat, there are a couple of things you will want to ensure. First the espresso needs to be fresh and hot. You may want to get your espresso machine started as you’re whipping the cream. You also want to ensure that you use real coconut milk; pina colada mixes will not work for this particular recipe.

  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) of your favorite rhum
  • 30 ml (1/8 cup) Cointreau or other citrus liquors
  • 2 long shots of espresso
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) coconut milk (not a pina colada mix)
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) whipping cream
  • sugar
  • lemon juice

With the ingredients in hand, lets’ work on making that perfect cup. You’re now just 5 steps away from relaxing with that warm cup in hand.

Making Coco-Rhum Coffee

Here are the steps to make coco-rhum coffee (the right way):

  1. Pour a little lemon juice into one saucer, and some sugar into the other. Use these saucers to line the rims of each cup by dipping them first in the lemon juice, and then twisting them lightly in the sugar.
  2. Split the alcohol, espresso, and half of the coconut milk between the two glasses.
  3. Pour the other half of the coconut milk into the cream, and add a bit of sugar to the mixture.
  4. Whip the cream until it is fluffy, and then top each cup with half of whipped cream.
  5. Serve the Coco-Rhum coffee while it is still hot.
