Color for Your Home: 5 Places to Place Color
When considering the color for your home, keep in mind that there are hundreds of different ways that you can color your house, both inside and out. From the paint and wallpaper that you use for the walls and ceilings to the furniture and other fixtures in your home, the more creative you are with the color that you place, the more individual your home will look. By considering all of the different places in which you can install colors for aesthetic purposes, you'll ensure that your home ends up looking exactly as you want it to.
1. Floors
The floors are a great place to begin your consideration of the colors in your home. If you have carpets, look at all of the different types of carpets that are available, and remember that you can get carpets in a wide array of different shades and hues. If you have a linoleum or hardwood floor that you're looking to spice up, consider placing a small rug in a strategic place to focus the eye and add color to the lower level of your field of vision.
2. Walls
The walls are the next place to think of placing the colors in your home. While there are thousands of different paints that you can use to color a wall, you can also be more creative. Consider mixing paint and wallpaper in unique patterns to further enhance the color profile of a room. You can also experiment with textures or patterns for the paint to maximize the aesthetic value of the space as well. Don't be afraid to hang items, like tapestries, cloths, pictures, artwork and other hangings from the walls as a way of contrasting the colors.
3. On Tables
Tables and other surfaces around the home are great places to consider having a splash of color. Most tables are wooden and have a plain, brownish color. Against that backdrop, a centerpiece, floral arrangement or other object will stand out and can help to tie the look of the room together.
4. Furniture Covers
The furniture covers in your home are a good place to consider placing colors, as they can be easily changed. This allows you the flexibility to consider different combinations and arrangements before you commit to any one color scheme, unlike with paint and other more permanent fixtures. Consider getting throws, afghans, duvet covers and other items to enhance the color of your home.
5. Fixtures
Fixtures like lights, light switches, and other items hanging around the home can seem plain and boring. However, you can customize these objects so that what was once plain and obligatory can seem new and colorful. Consider getting colored light switch plates or power outlet covers, or change the colors of your lampshades and other fixtures for a unique appearance.
