If you want to construct a medicine bathroom cabinet, it does help to have some basic woodworking skills. In order to have a finished product you can be proud of, there are some basic steps you should follow.
Step 1 – Choose the Size and Materials
Many people like to use oak for medicine cabinets, but other wood will do. More important than the type of wood is the kind of finish that you apply to the cabinet. Choose the type of wood according to the color you’d like in your finished product.
Step 2 – Cut the Interior Pieces
Using a pattern (available online or in a book), cut the pieces to construct the inner box of the cabinet.
Remember to put several shelves into the box, and to allow enough depth to hold deep medicine bottles.
Step 3 – Assemble the Interior
Use screws and wood nails to firmly assemble the box and shelves for the interior of the cabinet. Make sure the resulting box is square. You may need to make use of clamps in order to complete the construction.
Step 4 – Finishing Panels
Use a thin masonite for the cabinet back. For the doors, you can either purchase or construct cabinet doors. Finish the entire piece before installation.
