Contemporary Glass Candle Jars for the Home

by DoItYourself Staff

Contemporary glass candle jars that fit in with a modern decor are easily purchased or created as a do-it-yourself project.

Contemporary Candle Sources

Major candle companies are aware that not everyone who loves candles fits into one specific decorating scheme, so they must appeal to a broad range of taste with one container. Search your local candle store such as Yankee Candle, Village Candle or Hallmark for these brands that are sold in clear glass containers that fit into any decor. The only concern you would really have would be the color of the candle seen through the clear glass.

Make Your Own Contemporary Candle

If you wish to create your own contemporary candle jar to suit your decor, first find a glass container that you like. Most glass will withstand heat. Choose a thicker material that won't heat as quickly. Also, when you use the candle, trim the wick to no more than 1/4 inch before lighting. This will create a smaller flame which is slower melting.

Any pretty glass piece can be a candle jar. A nice drinking glass or vase will hold a votive size candle and fit into your decor. A slender glass cylinder placed on a dining room table will add warmth to the contemporary room.
