More Americans are turning their homes into sanctuaries. And with "nesting" on the rise and the economy in flux, the trick is how to create such comfort zones without breaking the bank.
A survey by Opinion Research Corporation showed Americans pampering themselves and their families - with 33 percent citing their children as a priority, and 24 percent each citing their spouses or themselves. Twelve percent want to go the extra mile with special purchases for their pets.
"Creating a comfortable environment at home is crucial," says a style expert at Marshalls, a one-stop shopping destination for the home. Her tips for babies, baths and pets:
- Pamper your child with soft sheets, a lightweight comforter, breezy curtains, and plush toys.
- Enhance your bathroom with coordinating shower curtain and towels. Bowls of potpourri, bath oils and a luxurious robe create the ultimate spa experience at home.
- Pamper pets with a fluffy bed, chew toys and new bowl.
