Creativity With Fridge Magnets - Ideas For Any Occasion

by DoItYourself Staff

Fridge magnets come in all shapes and sizes and can range from simple to eccentric. Being creative with your fridge magnets is a fun way to turn any occasion into a celebration.

Words, Letters, and Sayings

There are many fridge magnets that offer humorous or inspirational words or sayings. While you can purchase these magnets, you can also make you own by simply cutting out words and expressions in magazines, newspapers or even make your own on the computer. Then take the words you cut-out and either place them in a clear magnetic frame to hang on the fridge or simply glue the cut-out to a magnet and place it on the fridge.

Photographs and Pictures

Many of us like to fill our fridge with pictures of our friends and family to be able to see them everyday. To do this you can just put the pictures up with adhesive tape on the back so that they will stick on the surface of the fridge or you can put them in clear magnetic frames. You can also make your own border to act like a frame for a picture, such as creating one with scrap booking paper or making a border on the computer and printing it then cutting it out to place the photo in the middle of the border.

If there is a certain animal that you really like or something in a magazine that really makes you laugh, then cut it out and hang it on your fridge so you are able to feel good every time that you look at it. Pictures from magazines or on-line can be cut out and simply taped just like the photos.

Calenders and To Do Lists

If you have a hard time remembering events or your to do list, then why not have a reminder right in front of you? By creating a calender or event planner to go directly on your fridge you are able to see what you have planned without ever forgetting. To make this all you need to do it go to your computer, make a calender for the current month (can be as simple or as fancy as you want), make it a small enough size to put on the fridge, but a large enough size to be able to write in it and actually see what you wrote. Print out the calender or the to do list and glue it to a large plain magnet (or you can use adhesive tape) and place it on the fridge.

Dried Flowers

You may simply like to the look of spring flowers once the cold months come rolling in, so why not savor that by making a dried flower fridge magnet? It's very simple. Take a flower of your choice and press it overnight. To press a flower, put it on a piece of paper and then place another on top it along with a book to flatten it. After you have pressed your flower, glue it to a small piece of paper and then slide it in a clear magnetic frame.
