Each year the cruise industry grows in popularity and today more people than ever travel via cruise ship. Tips for cruise safety are a valuable defense for travelers, so we put together six tips for cruise safety to keep you safe.

Tip for Cruise Safety #1 Use the safe provided in your cabin.

Some mornings you’ll be running late because you were rocking the upper deck with your Saturday Night Fever dance routine the night before, but please take the time to put even the smallest items in your safe before leaving your room.

Tip for Cruise Safety #2 Travel with a partner whenever possible.

Traveling with a partner whenever possible is a great tip for cruise safety and is always a good idea no matter where you are, even if it’s just around the ship. Always have a partner especially if you plan on drinking or gambling a little.

Tip for Cruise Safety #3 Limit your alcohol consumption.

When we drink we reduce our reaction time, let our guard down, and possibly pass out. Tip #3 for cruise safety is to limit your alcohol consumption and by doing so limit the number of people that could potentially take advantage of you (or draw silly things on your forehead with permanent marker.)

Tip for Cruise Safety #4 Limit your gambling.

By limiting your gambling you are again limiting the number of people that may prey on you because you just won a large jackpot. A related tip for cruise safety is never to reveal how much money you have when opening a purse or wallet.

Tip for Cruise Safety #5 Watch what you eat.

By watching what you eat you limit the chances of getting sick from either contaminated food or from other passengers passing their germs around.

Tip for Cruise Safety #6 Always be alert.

Be aware of who is around you. Never let children out of your site. Never leave your purse or wallet unattended. Look people in the eye when walking by.

Although you may see the same friendly faces everyday, it is important to always stay alert. A cruise ship is like a small city, including the crime so if you keep these six tips in mind you should have no problems. Happy sailing!
