Cut Hole for 'Old Work' Electrical Box

What You Need

  • Dremel Cutting Guide Attachment #565
  • Pencil
  • Masking Tape
  • Piece of Scrap Wire (approx. 2")

1. With the #560 drywall cutting bit, drill a small hole in wall where center of box will be.

2. Bend scrap wire in half at a 90 degree angle and slide bent portion through hole. Spin the wire to check for obstructions.

3. If clear, tape area where box will be installed. Then trace shape of the box onto tape.

4. Use Cutting Guide #565 and #560 drywall cutting bit to cut slowly along traced outline.
