Decorating a Marble Tile Bathroom

by DoItYourself Staff

what you'll need

  • Glass shower or tub doors
  • Glass bathroom shelves
  • Bathroom vanity with contrasting color
  • Mirrors
  • Towels
  • Stickers

A marble tile bathroom looks great when the decorations have colors that provide contrast to the marble. Since marble tiles come in different hues, it is best to determine the best colors that will provide contrast to it. White or light brown colors are best decorated with darker-hued decorations. However, dark-hued or onyx-colored marble requires lighter colored decorations. Glass also provides a great addition since it allows the marble to be more visible.

Step 1 – Decorating with Glass

Add plain transparent glass in the bathroom. Plain transparent glass provides a good decorative quality to the marble tile bathroom. The glass can be installed as a shower door or as a bathroom shelf. Although glass does not provide enough contrast to the bathroom color, it does allow maximum lighting and visuals in the room. Since marble really looks good when struck by light, glass doors, windows and shelves are a perfect blend. Never use stained glass windows as it may compromise the color of the marble. However, the shelves can be tinted with or stained with a darker hue to provide contrast.

Step 2 – Decorating with Bathroom Vanities

The color of the vanity should be darker or lighter depending on the color of the marble. If the marble is white or light colored, then a dark brown vanity fits perfectly. For darker marble colors, a vanity with beige or white color is a good option. Just make sure that vanity is not the same color as the marble.

Step 3 – Decorating with Mirrors

Mirrors with dark colored frames blend well with white and light brown marble tiles. Black is a good color for the frame, but dark brown can also work as an alternative. For darker colored marble tiles, the mirror frame can be lighter in color. White is a good choice, but any other light color can do.

Step 4 – Decorating with Stainless Steel

Stainless steel blends well with marble also. The stainless steel can come in the form of faucets, beams, hangers, sinks and the supporting frames of bathroom shelves, mirrors and glass doors. Although copper can also be a good alternative.

Step 5 – Decorating with Stickers

White marble tiles look good with stickers. The stickers should be anything that captures your interest. Basic designs such as stars, trees, or seashells can be used. However, the sticker design can be made more aesthetic with your personal interests involved.

Step 6 – Decorating with Common Bathroom Objects

Stack towels or terry cloth in the shelves in a way that provides good color contrast to the bathroom. Experiment with many different colors to come up with a good combination. Add soap dishes, trays, and other common bathroom objects.

There are many other ways to decorate the marble tile bathroom, but that is up to the owner to discover. Just keep in mind that creating contrasting colors is a very important factor in the decorating process.
