Decorating Your Guest Bathroom for 4th of July Fun

by Alyssa Davis

When the 4th of July rolls around, chances are that you will have guests coming to call.  Whether you have a big backyard picnic and barbecue or a small family get-together, your guests will surely be using your guest bathroom.  While there is nothing that says that you have to decorate your guest bathroom for the holidays, it is a great way to add whimsy and fun for your guests to enjoy.  Use the easy ideas below to brighten up your guest bathroom for the 4th of July and make your guests feel right at home.

Terrific Towels

The guest bathroom is the one room in the house where whimsical and decorative towels can be freely hung.  Sure, they will get dirty, but it is a great chance to get festive in an easy and inexpensive way.  For the 4th of July, invest in some red, white, and blue themed towels.  Ones with hearts, stars or other patriotic decor are ideal.  If your guest bathroom does not need full-size bath towels, you can also use hand towels to add decorative accents or place a tray or basket full of themed paper hand towels by the sink.  Even if you do not want to spend a fortune on new cloth or paper towels, you can usually find some holiday themed ones at dollar stores or discount box stores.

Soaps

Just like the towels, in the guest bathroom, whimsical decor reigns.  Use star shaped miniature soaps in the soap dish to offer a fun and festive look.  You can opt for plain white stars or have a trio of red, white, and blue ones to show your patriotism.  If you prefer using liquid soap, tie a decorative red, white, and blue ribbon around the bottle to add color and personality.

Wall Art

Replace your usual framed pictures with some festive decorative wall art.  Abstract paintings in shades of red, white, and blue work just as well as metal stars or Americana themed sculptures.  Have you ever seen the large stars that some homeowners hang on the outside of their homes?  You can bring them indoors and decorate your guest bathroom walls with them instead.  The key is to use patriotic color and shaped wall art pieces to bring out the best in the small room’s decor.

Floor Mats

Never underestimate the power of a simple floor mat.  When you change the color or style of the mat on your guest bathroom floor, you change the look of the room.  Opt for a simple red, white, or blue mat for a more subtle look.  For a very 4th of July look, choose a mat that has a design that showcases the holiday spirit.

No matter how you decide to accent your guest bathroom for your 4th of July guests, you can rest assured that they will appreciate the small touches.  It does not have to cost a lot to alter the look of the room, because even the addition of a simple ribbon on the soap bottle changes the space.  Use your creativity to design a fun room that will be the hit of the party.
