If you are exhibiting any of the warning signs of diabetes, you may want to take a diabetes test online. There are many web sites that offer this service including the American Diabetes Association web site. After that you should follow up by scheduling an appointment with your doctor who will administer a blood glucose diabetes test.
What is a Diabetes Test?
There are several ways your health care provider may test for diabetes.
- Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) diabetes test
- Measures blood glucose after the patient has fasted for at least eight hours
- Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT)
- Measures blood glucose after the patient has fasted for at least eight hours and then drinks a beverage containing glucose
- Random Plasma Glucose diabetes test
- Measures blood glucose even when the patient has not fasted.
- Administered with an assessment of the symptoms
After taking a diabetes test that returns a result which indicates a person does have diabetes, another diabetes test should be repeated on a different day.
