Did A Stain Set? 3 Removal Tips

by DoItYourself Staff

If you have allowed a stain to set, removing that stain is going to take a little effort. But with a little know-how it is not impossible. Use these 3 tips to help you remove that stains that have set into the fabric.

Removing Blood

Soak the blood-stained item or fabric water as soon as is humanly possible. Then wash it in the hottest water that you can reasonably manage. For clothing, adding Tide with Bleach will be useful, especially if you have the colored clothing variety. Items that have blood stains should always be washed by themselves.

Removing Chewing Gum

Press down on the gum with ice and rub hard. Once the ice has frozen the gum, making it a more solid mass, you should be able to use a case knife or a spoon to scrape the gum away. Be gentle with the scraping, otherwise you may cause tears or holes.

Removing Lip Stick

As soon as you realize that you have let a lipstick stain set in, spray the stain heavily using standard hairspray. Then presoak the piece of clothing for at least 30 minutes in your washing machine. Make sure to add a good brand of laundry detergent, especially if your laundry detergent contains enzymes which will help to break down the lipstick stain.
