Dishwasher Door Replacement: Tips
Dishwasher door replacement is a project that should be done when the door is starting to fail. Replacing the door is a more worthwhile option than replacing the entire dishwater, saving you money in the process. If your dishwasher door starts to not seal correctly, feels much heavier than it should, or is bent at one of the hinges, you should replace it with a new door. Here are a few tips for easy dishwasher door replacement.
Keep Dishwasher Unplugged
To make sure there are no complications or problems, disconnect the power to the dishwasher. Also, disconnect the drain line and water supply.
Slide out of Cabinet
To get at the door springs you will need to slide the dishwasher out of the cabinet it is installed in. Open the door and unscrew it from the top of the cabinet.
Work Carefully but Confidently
Once you have enough room to work, you can begin to take the doors off the dishwasher. Remember that you will need to keep some tension on the springs as you remove them or they will fly out at you. Keep the door closed through this process or it will drop as you take out the screws holding it. Once you remove the door pin, you can open the door slightly while lifting new door out.
