Do I need a new electrical box to wire a double outlet?

If you are wiring a new double outlet in your home, whether or not you will need a new electrical box will depend upon a couple of things. First, remove the outlet cover and see what type of box holds the outlets. If it is a single, then of course, it will need to be replaced with a double outlet box. These are available at any hardware store. Be sure to also purchase a new outlet cover and a mudring. Many outlet boxes have pre stamped holes that will need to be punched out to give you the access you need for wiring.
