Do the Restrictions on Burning Autumn Leaves Vary with Zoning Laws?

by DoItYourself Staff

So the Autumn leaves are all raked up, and now what do you do with them? This depends on where you live. If you live in an unincorporated area, often there are no zoning laws, meaning most likely you can burn the leaves. It varies by county and state however, so it is best to call the county office where you live before burning the leaves. They will be able to tell you if there is a zoning ordinance in place for your county. Most incorporated cities have their own restrictions on burning leaves, so if you live in an incorporated area, call the city office to inquire about the zoning laws for your city.
