Does steel siding or vinyl siding last longer?

by DoItYourself Staff

Steel siding has the propensity to last longer than vinyl siding as a result of the difference in characteristics.

Qualities of Steel Siding

Steel siding is much harder and more durable than vinyl siding. It will, as a result, resist damage better than vinyl. Because steel siding is seamless, it will less likely be ripped off the wall by the wind. It is also less prone to fading and will outlast vinyl, which tends to fade easily in harsh sun. Seamless steel siding lasts longer as it prevents moisture from creeping in and damaging the siding.
