Dog Doorbell: Know When Lassie Has To Go

by DoItYourself Staff

A dog doorbell may sound a bit weird at first, but installing one can save you a lot of money and hassle. Knowing when your dog has to pee can make for stress-free living.

What is it?

A dog doorbell is exactly what it sounds like, a doorbell designed specifically for your dog to use. A bell is hung at dog level so that when your dog needs to do his business, he can simply nose or paw the bell, letting you know that he’d like to go outside to use the bathroom.

Why Use One?

When your dog is trained to ask to go outside, he will give you a signal that the time has come. Unfortunately, sometimes the signal isn’t always clear or you aren’t paying attention and this could result in an accident in the house. If you are working from home or in a different room, you can’t see your dog circling by the door, but guaranteed, you will hear the dog doorbell ringing, a clear signal that he is asking to go out.

Outdoor Use

And once your dog is done relieving himself? Attach a dog doorbell outside and he can ring it when he wants to come in, saving you from having to stand at the door and wait.
