Ever notice how drilling into a plaster wall or ceiling always leaves a dusty mess on the floor, or in your eyes.

Try this next time you drill.

For walls

  1. Tape a small, open paper bag under the spot you're drilling to catch all the dust
  2. Place some tape over the spot itself to avoid damaging the wall

For Ceilings

  1. First drill through the middle of a plastic coffee can lid
  2. Leave the lid on the bit and use it to catch the falling dust
  3. Of course, always wear safety glasses when drilling a hole above eye level just in case a speck goes flying
