Easy to Grow Flowers for Indoor

It's nice to have easy to grow flowers around the house, as you don't have to go to great lengths to give them the needed attenton and can still enjoy their beauty throughout the year. The following flowers can be grown inside and will lend to the aesthetics of your home or office.

African violets

African violets are ideal plants to grow indoors and keep blooming in the right conditions. Just make sure you grow the little plants in rooms where there is plenty of natural light. However, don't place the plants in the direct path of the sun's rays. Also, the place you set them should contain a good deal of humidity. They won't do well if they are placed where they can't receive enough moisture. However, don't ever give the plants too much water. Keep the soil damp but not soggy. Mist the leaves every few days.

Fuchsia

Fuchsia is another ideal indoor flowering plant and produces its blooms in the summertime. Plants blossom in blue, red, or white and adapt well to areas in the home that offer a bit of coolness and plenty of indirect light. You should keep the plant routinely watered in the summer months and cut down on watering when the plant is dormant in the winter. It may look a little puny without its blooms at that time, but it will reward you again with its beautiful flowers if you are patient.

Amaryllis

The amaryllis, along with the Poinsettia, is a popular Christmas plant. The long stems and dramatic trumpet-like white, red or pink blooms make this flower a favorite winter-blooming plant. If you want to see the plant bloom at Christmas, you should start cultivating the bulbs in November. Place them in a pot, about 6 inches in size, and make sure that the bulbs are just peeking out above the soil mix. Set the bulbs in a room that is warm with plenty of indirect sunlight. Water slightly at first and increase the amount as the plant begins to flourish. Make sure you fertilize the plant on a weekly basis. Keep your amaryllis watered until the end of summer, gradually reducing the amount of water you give it until the end of of the early part of September. Don't water again until you prepare the bulbs to flower at Christmas.

Poinsettia

Another indoor flowering plant is the poinsettia. Not only is it well-revered at Christmas, it's a worldwide favorite houseplant. The bracts, which grow around the plant's flowers, come in red as well as pink or white. Poinsettias will thrive if you place them in a sunny location with plenty of indirect lighting. Make sure they receive approximately 8 hours of light each day. Keep the soil somewhat moist. You don't need to feed the poinsettia when it's blooming. Give it fertilizer at other times on a monthly basis.

Peace Lilies

Peace lilies are delightful flowers that bloom in white and display leaves that are glossy. They like warm, humid environments. Look for them to flower in the summer. You can enjoy their blooms during that time each year.
