Easy Wine Stain Removal

by DoItYourself Staff

Wine stain removal can be a nuisance, especially with red wine. The best solution as with any stains is to use a wine stain removal solution right away. For wine stain removal on clothing or other fabrics, you can use white wine to remove it. If that wine stain removal process fails, you can create a solution for the fabric to pre-soak in:

• 1 Cup Dawn Dish Washing Liquid
• 1 Cup Hydrogen Peroxide

Allow the mixture to soak into the clothes before laundering. You should place a clean towel in between the stain and the back of the item of clothing to ensure it does not soak through.

Wine Stain Removal For Carpeting

If you spill red wine on the carpeting, pour hydrogen peroxide over the stain and blot the stain away. In tougher stains or colorfast carpets you will want a wine stain removal solution consisting of luke warm water and vinegar. You can blot the majority of the stain away and then use a clean damp sponge and some elbow grease for the remainder.
