Entry Door Knob Removal

Entry door knob removal can take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, depending on how difficult the screws are to remove. You'll need a Phillips screwdriver to remove the knob screws, and you may need a flat screwdriver for the latch plate, depending on your specific doorknob.

Remove the Screws
Unscrew the screws that hold the trim plate in place that goes behind the door knob on each side. Then remove the long screws that hold the doorknobs in place.

Remove the Assembly
The barrels and the inside assembly of the doornknob should come out easily once you have the screws removed.

Remove the Latch Face
Check to see if the latch face that's on the edge of the door will work with your new doorknob. If so, it may not be necessary to remove this part of the entry door knob. If it won't work then using the screwdriver called for, remove the screws that hold the latch face in place. Pull it out part of the way.

Remove the Outside Knob
Now you can remove the outside doorknob, and this will allow you remove the latch face and you're ready to install the new entry door knob.
