Ergonomic Wrist
If you have to use a computer a lot, you probably will find it necessary to buy an ergonomic wrist or hand brace. These help put the wrists in the correct posture and prevent them from resting right on the keyboard or desk. Most ergonomic wrist braces are offered in a couple different sizes, and it is very important to get the size that will fit you. Here are a few different ways you can measure your wrist.
- Wrap a length of paper, string, or tape around your wrist. Mark the spot where beginning meets itself again. Take it off of your wrist and lay it against a ruler.
- If you don't have a ruler handy, lay the paper, string, or tape against a pencil or pen to judge the length. A full pencil is about 7 inches long and a pen is about 6 inches.
- Use the inch length to determine what size ergonomic wrist brace you will need.
Average Ergonomic Wrist Brace Sizes
- Under 5", extra small
- 5"-6", small
- 6"-7", medium
- 7"-8", large
- Over 8", extra large
If you fall somewhere in the middle of the measurements, pick out the size that you think will be best for you. Most ergonomic wrist braces can be returned if the size is not right.
