There are many ways to enhance and beautify a home, but adding the right exterior lighting is one of the best ways to show off the landscape you have worked so hard to create. Incorporating lighting into the landscape is a great way to add additional beauty and drama to an already stunning landscape, and a great way to increase your enjoyment of that landscape.

Adding lighting elements to the landscape is important for safety reasons as well. Adding a string of lights to a sidewalk or pathway can help visitors find their way safely in the dark, and the additional lighting will help deter burglars and other unwanted visitor as well.

There is of course no shortage of choices when it comes to exterior lights, and it is important for each homeowner to choose lighting that best reflects their needs as well as their sense of style and beauty. One of the most useful forms of lighting for the landscape is solar lighting. Solar lights have a number of important advantages over other forms of lights. One of the most important advantages is that such lights come without the need for wires or difficult installation procedures. In addition, solar lights can easily and quickly be moved from place to place, or even moved inside during the winter. And of course the lights come on automatically, turning on at dusk and off at dawn, for hassle free lighting.

The batteries in these solar lights are powered by the sun, so it is important to place them in areas of the landscape that get plenty of sunlight during daytime hours. The sunlight they receive during the day will power the solar cells, and this power will in turn allow the light to burn brightly after the sun has gone down.

There are an enormous number of choices when it comes to landscape lighting. Both traditional electric powered lights and solar lights are available in a wide variety of sizes, shapes and styles, and it is a good idea to shop around as much as possible before choosing a single variety. Many landscapes would benefit most by a combination of landscape lights. For instance, the same home could use a sting of small solar powered stake lanterns for a walkway, a larger solar light above the front door and perhaps a larger string of lights along the driveway. When it comes to lighting up the exterior home landscape, the only limit is your imagination and your budget.
