Finish Grade

by DoItYourself Staff

A finish grade is simply the final ground level around a building. In most cases there is nothing at the top of the ground by the foundation. However, more recently ground level decks have become the new finish grade.

This is because these types of decks are easier to build and they make for a great finish grade. With a ground level deck being the finish grade it allows the deck to be much sturdier than a raised deck and doesn’t require the extra building.

Why Build a Deck that’s at the Finish Grade Level?

As time goes by, many consumers have found a finish grade level deck to be much more practical than a normal deck. Also, when designed and implemented properly the decks add a unique ambience to the house that wouldn’t be able to be achieved normally. Also a finish grade level deck can be easily replaced for a much lower cost as there are a lot fewer materials involved in the rebuilding process.
