Fixing a Chipped Induction Cooktop

Induction cooktops are very popular today. Induction cooktops save gas and energy by using electromagnetism to intensify the heat for cooking food quickly. However, at the same time people face the problem of chipped induction cooktops.  Induction cooktops are available in white and black ceramic. While cleaning, keep in mind that the cleaning agents used to clean white cooktops cannot be used to clean red cooktops.

Here are some tips on cleaning and fixing chipped cooktops:

Clean cooktops efficiently to remove stains and dirt

If you have soils or light spills on your cooktop, wash the cooktop surface with clean water using a dish washing cleanser. Rinse well and wipe the surface. Also, stubborn stains can be easily removed by using vinegar. Soak vinegar in a towel and rub the soiled area. Avoid touching the metal parts of the cooktop. In order to clean heavy to moderate stains, you can also scrape the spills by using a razor blade and applying a vinegar paper towel over it for 15 minutes.

Cleaning cooktops can be easy for maintaining them, but maintaining them after being chipped can be a problem. Chipped induction cooktops are a major problem as they damage the appearance of your cooktop. Here a few tips on fixing chipped induction cooktops:

Arrange the cleaning materials

Before you start with the idea of fixing the scratches on your induction cooktop, you have to arrange materials like an efficient cooktop cleaner, scrubber sponge, paper towels and razor scrapes.  These materials will help you fix your chipped induction cooktop improving its appearance.

Rub gently with the scrub

The first thing you need to do is to pour a few drops of the cooktop cleaner on the scratched area and brush it gently with a sponge in a circular motion.

Scrape the scratches with razor scrapes

After doing this, pour a few more drops of the induction cooktop cleaner on the chipped area and smoothly scrape it with the razor scraper. This step is beneficial as it will help you remove any raised edges on the induction cooktop created due to the scratch.

Evaluate the situation after cleaning

Quite often even after cleaning, some scratches remain intact. It is very necessary to assess the situation after cleaning as you might have to clean and scrub the cooktop again with the cleaner. Repeat the cleaning process to receive the desired results. After finishing wipe the cooktop with a paper towel and water if necessary.

Strictly avoid using harsh cleaners and sponges on induction cooktops. Also, it is advisable to cook only in those pots and pans approved by the manufacturer of the cooktop.

Check the bottoms of all the pans and pots to avoid further scratches that maybe caused due to dirt or grit.
