Furniture Upholstery Cleaning with a Shampooing Machine

Regular furniture upholstery cleaning helps keep pieces looking brand new over extended periods of time. The process is very quick and simple, and the right products and methods will not damage any delicate fibers. Read on to learn how to use a shampooing machine to clean your upholstered furniture.

Step 1 - Inspect

Your first step should be to check that your shampoo machine is not going to wear the color from the furniture or damage any of the material. Find a small hidden piece of the material and test it with the shampooing machine before you proceed.

Step 2 - Dampen

Dampen the furniture with a large cloth covered in warm water. Make sure you thoroughly squeeze the cloth before rubbing it over the furniture to eradicate the threat of water stains.

Step 3 - Add Shampoo

Fill your shampoo cleaner with a water-based upholstery shampoo. Gently apply the shampoo to the furniture in long and slow motions. Make sure that only the very end of the shampoo cleaner touches the material.

Step 4 - Scrape and Vacuum

Use a rubber scraper to gently remove any exhumed dirt or debris from the furniture. Allow the furniture to completely dry over 3 or 4 hours. Finish by using a vacuum to fluff up and clean the surface of the furniture to leave a brand new look.
