There are several garage floor tile products available today that the average consumer can install without any problems. Whether you choose an interlocking tile or a self-adhesive tile, the following installation steps require very little experience to achieve professional results.
- Prep the floor. No matter what tile you select there is always some prep work involved in order to complete the installation correctly. For both types it is extremely important to thoroughly vacuum the floor to remove any dust or loose debris. For self adhered floors it's recommended to wipe the floor down with a damp mop to remove even the finest dust particles.
- Take the measurements of the garage to determine the center point of the floor. Determining the center point is crucial to a symmetrical layout with even cuts around the perimeter of the room.
- After the center point has been determined and marked, you can begin installing the garage floor tile of your choice from the center of the room and work your way out. If you're installing interlocking tiles, then just snap the tiles together. If you're installing self-adhesive tile, then just peel off the backing and firmly press the tile in place. Remember to measure for each in every cut tile since imperfections in the wall could cause the measurements to change slightly. If you want your floor to look professional, remember to keep the seams and cuts tight.
