Gardening is certainly a popular hobby and a fascinating pastime. In fact, year after year gardening tops many lists of favorite outdoor activities. Given the popularity of the gardening hobby, chances are good that someone on your gift giving list is a gardener. Buying gifts for the gardener in your life is not always easy, especially if you do not share their passion for the world of plants. With a little bit of planning, however, it is possible to choose some gifts any gardener would love.

Gardening sets are always a great choice for the gardener on your list. These great sets are practical as well as beautiful, and they are a particularly great choice for the beginning gardener. A typical garden set may include such garden essentials as a garden trowel, spading fork and a planting basket.

Speaking of baskets, gift baskets make wonderful presents for the gardeners on your list. Gift baskets are the perfect way to give the gardeners in your life all those little things they need throughout the year, You can start your gift basket with a handy garden pail, then fill it with things like potting soil, fertilizer spikes, gardening gloves, garden trowels and other small items. Then top the whole thing off with some colored cellophane and a big bow, and you have a great present you will be proud to get and the gardener in your life will be happy to receive.

If you are stuck for a gift idea, a couple of pairs of high quality gardening gloves are always appreciated. Gardening gloves are an essential element of the hobby, and serious gardeners can go through quite a few pairs in the course of an average season. Including a couple of pairs of quality gardening gloves will be appreciated by any gardener.

Pruning shears and other cutting tools are also highly appreciated by gardeners, and these items make great gifts, either on their own or as part of a gift basket. Rose gardeners in particular use their pruning shears heavily, so if you know a rose aficionado, consider a quality pair of rose pruning shears as the perfect gift.

Gardening can be difficult, and at times back breaking work, so the gardener on your gift list may enjoy the comfort of a kneeler. Kneelers are great for gardeners with back problems, but they will be appreciated by just about any gardener. These handy tools can be used to make other household chores, such as washing the car or working in the yard, a great deal more comfortable as well.

For a more whimsical touch, consider giving your favorite gardener a set of wind chimes, a special garden gnome, or a colorful garden flag. These decorative items can provide a great finishing touch to the new garden, or bring a splash of color and charm to the established one.
