If you're looking for a way to be more eco-friendly and have a positive impact on the environment, something as simple as a lawn of healthy, green grass can be a good first step. Follow these steps to keep your yard lush and growing.
Rake Your Lawn
By raking your lawn, you allow the grass blades to stand up straight while also removing any debris that might impede their growth. This also allows for the blades to get more sun and soak up as much nutrients as they possibly can.
Aerate for Green Grass
Aerating is the process of creating holes in your lawn roughly 3 to 4 inches deep, which allows oxygen, nutrients, water and other fertilizers to reach the roots of your grass more easily. This is especially helpful in very high traffic areas.
Utilize Seeding
To fix thin areas of grass, you can place a thin, 3 cm layer of soil on top of areas where groth is sparse. After the soil is down, thinly coat it with seeds, rake them in and water the area. This will help grow green grass in the bare area in no time.
Cut With Care
Make sure your grass is not cut too short. The length should be kept at 2½ to 3 inches. This will help protect your grass against the natural elements such as the sun, insects ane water.
Updating your lawnmower to one that mulches is also a great idea. There is no need to waste such a valuable resource as grass clippings. Why not churn them up and deposit them back on your lawn to provide nutrients?
