The ground-fault circuit interrupter circuit breaker has replaced the old style circuit breakers that used to be in homes. The ground-fault circuit interrupter circuit breakers are more reliable and by using one it can protect the whole circuit. Also the ground-fault circuit interrupter is a lot easier to test then the old circuits.
Every ground-fault circuit interrupter has a button on it to test it. The test button allows for the object that’s plugged in to turn off when it’s pushed. If it doesn’t turn off it means that it’s faulty and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. The reset button that is also on each unit is there to restore the power to it after a test or the circuit is tripped.
How to Test a Ground-fault Circuit Interrupter
The easiest way to test a ground-fault circuit interrupter is to go to the local hardware store and pick up a GFI tester. The tester provides a fast and easy way to get a look at your connections. It will also inform you if there are wiring problems or if the GFI has burned out.
The other way to test the ground-fault circuit interrupter is to just replace the unit.
